As a general practitioner, Dr. Lynda Wright has cared for pets at Phelps Veterinary Hospital since 1997, but she’s been a presence here since she began volunteering after her freshman year in high school.
A native of Shortsville, Dr. Wright attended Cornell University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 1990.She worked for 2 years in the virology/bacteriology lab at the University of Rochester Medical Center before pursuing her veterinary education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, with honors, in 1997. Her professional interests include small animal internal medicine, geriatrics and dentistry.
Dr. Wright is a member of the Finger Lakes Veterinary Medical Association, the New York State Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Outside the hospital, she enjoys fishing, camping, boating, gardening, snorkeling, and photography. She is the proud parent of three children, Jillian, Jacob and Lyndsey. Their four-legged family members include four dogs, Shadow, Sunny, Riptide, and Buttercup as well as four cats, Cookie, Sophia, Mittens, Felix Navidad, and Pumpkin.
Dr. Wright is actively involved in the community where she serves as a Girl Scout leader, and volunteers at the Studio for the Performing Arts in Newark.
General practitioner Dr. Eli Coleman has cared for pets at Phelps Veterinary Hospital since 2009.
Dr. Coleman attended Purdue University and received his Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology/Animal Physiology in 1994. He pursued his veterinary education at Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies and spent his last clinical year at Oklahoma State University. While he likes to dabble in everything, he counts soft tissue surgery and dermatology among his special interests.
Dr. Coleman is a member of the Finger Lakes Veterinary Medical Association, the New York State Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Empire State Bottle Collectors Association, the Genesee Valley Bottle Collectors Association and is an active member of the Newark Rotary.
While Dr. Coleman is originally from Indiana, he, his wife, Katharine, two sons, Ethan and Caleb and daughter, Claire, love the Finger Lakes region. They enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking and playing baseball. They enjoy the companionship of their yellow lab, Izzy and three cats, Emma, Lena, and Mia. Dr. Coleman also has a particular interest in bottle collecting.
As a general practitioner, Dr. Sara Wiggins has cared for pets at Phelps Veterinary Hospital since 2010.
Dr. Sara Wiggins was born and raised in Webster, NY. She attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University. She provides high-quality care in both medical treatment, surgery and has a special interest in diagnostic ultrasound.
Dr. Wiggins is a member of the Finger Lakes Veterinary Medical Association, the New York State Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Wiggins has many pets of her own. When she is not at Phelps Veterinary Hospital, she enjoys gardening, hiking and spending time with her family.
